A Curriculum Suited for Student Success

TCF Curriculum promotes an interactive, child centered teaching approach with emphasis on hands-on
activities that help children explore, question, understand and enjoy the learning process.

Our Education team extensively studies international curriculum practices and implements
best practices from across the world to improve and enrich the content  taught at our schools.

Lessons and content for subjects taught are tailored for relevance and
ease of understanding for our students, by developing curriculum and  academic resources in-house.

As of 2016, 53 textbooks, workbooks, and teacher guides have been developed to cater to the
needs of our students and standardize the daily lesson plans for teachers across the TCF School Network.



Building Personal, Social
& Moral Character

Special emphasis is placed on the personal, moral, and social development of our students. Activities at schools are therefore aimed at inspiring children to become conscious, responsible, independent and well-rounded individuals, citizens and achievers.

TCF strives to provide an educational experience that stretches from the classroom teachings of a regular curriculum to the practical character building of children into self-confident leaders. TCF vests resources in discovering, capturing


and promoting the talent of its students. Annually held art competitions, debate competitions and many others events aim to provide students with a platform to showcase and celebrate their creative expression and talents.



Intensive Teacher & Principal Training

TCF understands that specialized principal and teacher training is a prerequisite for imparting quality education in all its schools. While teachers have a direct impact on students in the classroom, principals affect all students in the school. The Training team in the Education Department, therefore, aligns an extensive teacher and principal training programme every year.

For teachers, the modules are designed based on their training needs assessment ranging from Classroom Management to Motivating Learners to Using Visual Aids or Helping Learners

improve their spellings etc. Principals on the other hand receive training for effective school leadership. Their training includes courses like Communication Skills, Conflict Management, Delegation, Prioritizing and Taking Action etc.

The objective is to produce and sustain a positive learning environment that generates strong learning outcomes in the school classroom, ensuring students’ academic success.

E-Learning Content
& Teacher Testing

Nardban – Stairway to Success was initiated in 2014. It is an innovative programme comprising two unique features: Teacher Competency Tests (TCTs) and E-Learning Videos.

TCTs are yearly assessments that all TCF teachers are tested for based on the subjects they teach. The objective is to test,assess and improve teachers’ subject matter knowledge in a competitive way and reward them accordingly. These test are created using an online management system which allows the Education Department to generate high quality standardized


questions for all subjects at different grade levels. The answer sheets are then fed into the same system using OMR scanners, which helps expedite the process of data entry, results and analysis.

E-Learning content is another aspect of the programme.  A specialized Learning Management System (LMS) Unit has been working on creating engaging and interactive videos for English, Mathematics and Science teachers. These videos equip teachers with the material they need to expand their content knowledge. Hence, enabling them to teach more confidently, effectively and with greater skill.

The programme is geared towards instilling critical thinking, creativity and sharing pedagogical techniques with TCF’s teaching staff which in turn facilitate a direct impact on students’ learning.

Overseeing the Quality of our Education Programme

TCF oversees the quality of its Education Programme through a dedicated Quality Assurance (QA) team. The objective is to ensure that an acceptable education standard is maintained in all the TCF School units across the country. Visits are conducted throughout the year to monitor a school’s education standard against its yearly results, classrooms observations and insight from Principals, teachers and students; bench marking it against other TCF Schools in the same community.

Based on this a School Improvement Plan is devised for every

school. All areas of development have action plans which are continually referred to and monitored by the team.

In addition to the schools’ monitoring and evaluation, the QA team also conducts two centralized examinations – Mid Terms and Finals in an academic year. The team prepares the examination papers, monitors the marking and compiles results.

Rahbar Empowers
Students as Creators of their
Own Destiny!

The Rahbar Programme (2008) for Grade 8 & 9 students is aimed at the development of youth as responsible individuals and productive members of society.

It runs for 7 consecutive Saturdays, three times a year, featuring mentors discussing different aspects of practical life with TCF students and encouraging them to have a positive outlook in life.

The key feature of this programme is ‘Thought to Destiny’

which serves as guiding principle to inspire young minds to think of themselves as creators of their own destiny rather than victims of their bleak circumstances.

The programme includes a ‘Hero Speaker’ session in which the students get an opportunity to interact with a person who defied all odds and adversities in life to achieve happiness and success.

It also entails an ‘Exposure Trip’ where students are taken to various academic or vocational institutes, hospitals, banks, factories and other places to broaden their horizon and exposure to different professions.

Alumni Development Programme

TCF’s Alumni Development Program (ADP) was piloted in July 2014 in Karachi with 10 volunteers (university students) and 80 students over a period of three weeks.
The objective of the program is to put students through intense courses of English, Mathematics and Self Development to improve their basic academic skills, increase their capabilities of problem solving and critical skills and build their confidence. Another aspect to this program involves encouraging students to pursue education at a tertiary level and increase their awareness about ADP (Foundation, L1 and L2 levels), LUMS, Habib University and IBA preparatory classes and admission criteria and NTHP, NOP and UWC information sessions.


Mentoring Students to Pursue & Succeed in the Career of their Choice

Career Counseling sessions are organized and held annually for all TCF students enrolled in Grade 10. Volunteers interact with students on a one-to-one basis providing them with counsel  and guidance for future academic, intellectual and professional  opportunities. These involve higher studies and awareness of relevant vocational training programmes. Sessions are held from 9am to 1:30pm on a Saturday, typically between the months of September and January. Material for the counseling process is provided to volunteers by TCF to ensure ease and effectiveness

in their assigned roles. TCF openly accepts volunteers for this program and does not require any previous experience for registration.

Summer Camp Brings
Fun & Learning Together!

Launched in 2003, TCF Summer Camp, held during the summer holidays, aims to enhance the intellectual, social and professional skill sets of TCF students of  Classes 3, 4, and 5. Several enthusiastic volunteers between the ages of 15 to 23 spend two weeks during the month of June  engaging with our students at camp.

The objective of this programme is to make children learn through activities. Modules focus on developing language skills, using games and drama as tools for deeper learning.


The English Language module promotes effective speaking in the students. Volunteers interact with children through simple activities that help them expand their English vocabulary and oral proficiency. Drama activities done on simple stories lead to a discussion about values, foster creativity and imagination while fun outdoor games not only keep the kids active but promote teamwork and critical thinking as well.

Aagahi Illuminates Lives!

The Aagahi Adult Literacy Programme was launched in 2005 as a community development initiative. It provides illiterate women from rural areas and urban slums around TCF Schools a chance to learn how to read and write.

Most parents (especially mothers) find it extremely difficult to be actively involved in their children’s education due to high illiteracy.  This is why the programme specifically encourages the adult family members of TCF students to participate. The objective is to include the family and community in the education and development process of the child.


The initiative is supported by various corporate donors while TCF arranges for Aagahi centers, identifies teachers, enrolls learners, and coordinates the programme.

Aagahi classes are held twice a year – during January to May, and September – December. During this time basic Mathematics, Urdu reading and writing is taught to the learners. The literacy module “Jugnoo Sabaq”, comprises of four workbooks, three to teach phonetics based recognition of sounds and one to teach basic numeracy. The books are taught by trained instructors, 2 hours a day, 6 days a week over a period of 4 months.

Basic functional literacy skills have an enormous impact on community women. From being able to read bus numbers at a busy bus stop, to calculating the change they are owed at the end of a shopping transaction, to writing a letter to their loved ones, the gift of literacy dramatically transforms their lives.

Aagahi mothers find that they are able to communicate better with children and teachers – which enhances the effectiveness of the TCF school programme.

Clean Water for
Healthier Communities

Water is essential to human survival. However, scarcity of clean drinking water is one of the biggest challenges being faced by Pakistan in current times. According to WaterAid – Pakistan, 16 million people in the country do not have access to safe drinking water.

Communities that rely on contaminated water have to face serious health and economic consequences.  Over 41,000 children in Pakistan die every year from diarrhoea caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. Lack of clean water causes

frequent illness that leads to missed education and work opportunities, hospitalization and high health care costs. Clean drinking water can improve health and save lives!

Since 2015, TCF with its partners, under Clean Water Project is installing water filtration plants for healthier communities around TCF Schools. It opens community-scale filtered water depots in its school premises with dual outlets. One outlet provides clean water to the children attending school while the other is used by community people to have access to drinking water throughout the day.

The objective is to ensure good health and economic benefits to the communities we work in and reduce absenteeism among the school children by providing them with safe drinking water.

Vocational Training for
Economic Self-Sufficiency

TCF’s Vocational Training Project is providing young women and mothers living around TCF School communities with the skills to achieve economic self-sufficiency. Launched in the year 2015, the project is being run under partnerships with various institutions where the learners are being trained in two specific trades which includes Beauty-Cosmetology and Cutting-Sewing- Embroidery.

Training Centers are established inside the school premises where trained teachers impart specialized vocational training for


2 hours a day, 6 days a week over a period of 4 months. By the end of the course the learners are equipped with all the necessary skills and knowledge to launch their own small businesses while staying at home. The objective is to provide women with the support they need to lift themselves and their families out of poverty and facilitate sustainable community impact.
