Kainat Ansari, a TCF Alumna from Orangi Town, was accepted to the Ivy League Harvard Graduate School of Education. “One day, as a kid, you’re wondering if you will ever go to school. Next thing you know, you are packing your bags to go to Harvard!” shares Kainat. “Coming from Orangi – a small town, a slum – women like me are told places like Harvard aren’t for us. Getting in was beyond what my parents or I ever imagined.” It feels like just yesterday that Kainat walked through TCF’s gates with her father for her brother’s admission. These were the sights that stopped her in her tracks – girls playing badminton, the books in the library, classrooms alive with ideas she couldn’t yet grasp. She knew she belonged there and pleaded with her father for a chance. And when she finally got it, she worked harder than ever to catch up. And soon, she rose to the top of her class. We celebrate Kainat’s grit and your belief in the potential of Pakistan’s children. Change truly begins with education. Kainat, you make us proud. Keep flying high!
